An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Monday remanded a
27-year-old musician, Friday Freedom, in prison for allegedly raping a
15- year-old girl.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Chief Magistrate, Mr. Tajudeen Elias, remanded the accused in the Kirikiri Prison and adjourned the case till November 28, 2015, for ruling on bail application.
The accused, who lives on Kilani Street, Papa Ashafa, Agege, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a charge of rape.
The prosecutor, Sergeant Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the offence was committed on November 21, 2015, at the accused’s residence.
The prosecutor explained to the court that the accused invited the girl to his house for something and raped her.
“The girl is presently on admission at one of the general hospitals as a result of the injury she sustained,” he said.
The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
