SENEGAL 2015: Siasia’ll secure Rio 2016 ticket –Sanusi

BY GEORGE ALUO
THE nation’s soccer governing body, NFF, is sure Nigeria will be featuring in the soccer event of the Rio 2016 Olympics.
The battle to decide the countries that would be flying Africa’s flag in Rio is being fought in Senegal in the African U-23 soccer championship beginning from this weekend, with Nigeria’s Dream Team VI being one of the gladiators.
NFF’s general secretary, Dr Sanusi Muhammed, while baring his mind on the Samson Siasia tutored side yesterday said there was nothing to worry about ahead of the Senegal show, insisting that Sia One and his lads will get the job done and secure one of the Rio 2016 Olympic tickets.

Crime situation in Lagos, Ogun has changed drastically – AIG BALA HASSAN

Bala Hassan, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG in-charge of Lagos and Ogun States, is in charge of an environment plagued by increasing crime rate.  He agrees that the challenges are enormous but, nevertheless, would be treated with the urgency it deserves, assuring that normalcy will soon return but with a caveat to his men, “it is either you ship in and help salvage the situation or quietly ship out of the force.” Excerpts:
By Emma Nnadozie, Crime Editor
ASSESSMENT of crime situation in Zone III was once in Lagos, in Apapa as Area Commander. The crime situation has changed, drastically. However, there are many things to be done, because during my time in Lagos, there was a lot of crime especially car snatching which has reduced drastically.
Our greatest headache is these area boys because of the traffic hold-up. We are working on them. These area boys capitalize on the heavy traffic in Lagos to unleash terror while stealing watches, necklaces and phones from innocent members of the public.

Man who killed his wife and posted a photo of the bloody corpse on FB is convicted of murder

A Florida man who killed his wife and posted a photo of the bloody corpse on Facebook was convicted Wednesday of second-degree murder after failing to convince a jury that he shot her eight times in self-defense.

Jurors found 33-year old Derek Medina guilty of 2nd degree murder, shooting a deadly missile and child neglect. However, the jury did not believe he pre-planned the murder of his 27-year-old wife Jennifer Alfonso. Either way, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Medina did not wince as he learned the jury’s verdict which could put him in prison for 25 years to life.
Before the verdict was finished being read, Medina whispered to his attorney, Saam Zanganeh. Zanganeh told CBS4’s Natalia Zea, “Interesting reaction, it was an interesting reaction… I’m going to leave it at that, but it was an interesting reaction. Something I didn’t expect.”
Alfonso’s mother Caroline Knox, did not show emotion either, until the moment, when she hugged the lead investigator in the case.
“There’s nothing good to say about this situation. It’s a horrible situation. There’s no happy ending. There’s no happy ending,” said Knox, through tears.
