Tilers raise alarm over influx of quacks in building industry

The Association of Tilers, Nigeria, ATN has raised alarm over what the group called invasion of quacks in the building industry.

The President of ATN, Com. Hassan Olanrewaju who noted that unsuspecting Nigerians have continued to fall victims to their activities, described the situation as worrisome.

According to him, these quacks have continued to carry out shoddy jobs to denigrate real professionals in the building industry, a scenario he said portrays genuine stakeholders in bad light.

“The Association of Tilers, Nigeria is a noble professional organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, under the Company and Allied Matters Act 1990.

“Following the worrisome unethical, unprofessional and fraudulent activities of quack tilers in Nigeria and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in particular, the numerous disturbing reports and complaints of site abandonment, use of substandard materials, poor customer relationship, fraud to mention but a few by unprofessional tilers, have reached us at the association’s headquarters,” Olanrewaju said:

“The Association of Tilers, Nigeria categorically disassociates itself from these unscrupulous elements, as they are not our members and we don’t have any dealings with them. We have investigated the matter substantially and discovered that these individuals involved are either people who never did any training on tiling,” he said in a statement made available to Vanguard Homes & Property in Abuja.

“We also found out that the general public has been misled by the fake certificates and identity cards they parade which was produced from business centres,” the ATN president lamented
Olanrewaju said the association has embarked on drastic measures to put an end to the menace of quacks in the tiling profession.

“For the enormous damage and unbearable activities they have done to the society and construction industry, the ATN has risen to put a halt to the menace. As a professional body, we are poised to deliver quality service to Nigerians, as we have done in the past and present,” he added
