N50bn expenditure: Sylva accusses Dickson of lying

The leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC),weekend dismissed as unfortunate and misleading the claim by the former Deputy Governor, Hon. Peremobowei Ebebi that the former Governor and flag bearer of the party, Chief Timipre Sylva engaged in illegal financial and wasteful spending of over N50billion in two weeks during his tenure as governor of the state.

Ebebi, two time Speaker of the state House of Assembly was Sylva’s deputy for three years before he was impeached in a controversial manner and replaced with Chief Werinipre Seibarugu.

The former deputy governor had during the PDP mega rally last Saturday claimed that the people of the state should reject the APC candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva because of financial recklessness and wasteful spending of N50 billion while in office as governor of the state.

But the APC through the Director of Media and Publicity of the Sylva-Igiri Campaign Organisation, Chief Nathan Egba, in a statement in Yenagoa, described the allegation of the former Deputy Governor as misleading and unfortunate.

He said, “it is unfortunate that Ebebi choose such platform to make this allegation many years after leaving office. It only shows his shallow grasp of the processes of government. He spent all his time as a Deputy Governor under Chief Timipre Sylva in pursuit of pecuniary gains and never paid attention to what was happening in government.

“It is not surprising that after failing to achieve his target in office as a Deputy Governor, Ebebi has resorted to peddling lies and mischief for selfish gains with a drowning administration in the state.”

Chief Egba also mocked the PDP over the alleged anti APC comments made during the last Saturday rally saying it was an indication of panic over its looming defeat at the weekend election.
He said, “virtually all the speakers at the rally were exhibiting signs of panic at the realization of an impending defeat as they all kept making unfounded allegation against Sylva and the APC in a bid to whip up voters’ sentiments against the party.”
