Fulani Herdsmen Attack: Bring my brother-in-law’s killers to book – Survivor

OLEH—SURVIVOR of Tuesday’s Fulani herdsmen attack at Ofagbe community, Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State, Mr. Thompson Ogege, yesterday, appealed to the state government and security agencies to bring the culprits to book.

Recounting his ordeal to newsmen on his hospital bed at the Ughelli Central Hospital, Ogege disclosed that Mr. Japheth Inibu, who was killed in the attack by the suspected Fulani herdsmen, was his brother- in-law.

He said: “My elder sister told me that her husband and I would go to filter palm-nut the next day, so he left before me to the place where we were to meet for the filtering. While we were there doing the work, we saw cows and one of the herdsmen shouted, ‘Don’t move or we will shoot and kill.’

“The next thing I heard was a gun shot only to find that my sister’s husband had been shot on the chest and he died instantly. They fired another shot at my thigh and I fell down. They then came to see if we were dead. When I pretended to have died, they shouted Allah’kubar before they left with their cows.”

“I don’t know how the information got to community, but before they came to our rescue, my sister’s husband was confirmed dead and I was rushed Ofagbe general Hospital. From there, I was referred to Oleh general hospital where we were also referred to Ughelli central hospital for treatment.

“We cannot afford the drugs they are requesting us to buy because of money. I want the government to come to our aid and bring to book those herdsmen that killed my sister’s husband and put me in this condition. We don’t have money to pay for treatment and pain they have caused us.”

An orthopedic nurse, who spoke newsmen at the hospital noted that the patient was responding to treatment.
