By Jimoh Babatunde
Dubai’s debut presence at this year’s African Travel Market (ATM), taking place in Lagos, Nigeria from 22-24 November, highlights the emirate’s interest in the continent, with Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism) delivering the message that the city is a must-visit destination for African travellers in 2016.
Speaking at the ATM, Stella Obinwa, Head of Africa Region, Dubai Tourism, said: “Dubai already holds great appeal among African travellers, particularly those who love shopping, entertainment and family fun. We are here to show that Dubai is going to out-do itself in this regard in 2016, with incredible new attractions and opportunities that can’t be missed.”
Nigeria is one of Dubai’s best-performing African markets, with over 300,000 visitors arriving in Dubai from the region in 2014. Emirates operates three flights daily out of Nigeria, augmented by additional flights from within the region operated by Ethiopian Airlines, Etihad Airways, Rwandair, Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and Royal Air Maroc.
Shopping is a major attraction among African travellers, and Dubai is highlighting its incredible retail offering to Nigerians in several innovative ways. Dubai Tourism recently rolled out an advertising campaign in Nigeria highlighting Dubai Shopping Festival in January – the month when shopping bargains and festivities can be found across the city, including the world’s most-visited mall, The Dubai Mall.
Furthermore, Dubai Tourism is running an incredible prize giveaway for consumers, on radio with Soul & Liquid Lounges and with travel partners Tour Brokers International and World N Travel, offering 200 people the chance to win a trip to Dubai Shopping Festival 2016.
Stella Obinwa commented: “The scale of the competition is unprecedented and hasn’t been done by any other tourism board or company. We are working with our top travel agencies and radio stations to give Nigerians an amazing Dubai experience. When it comes to shopping, nobody does it better than Nigerians.”

‘Older women could be amazing in bed’

Dear Bunmi,
I recently made love to a woman 11 years older than me and it was the best night of my life. She was really amazing. I’m used to being in control but she bossed me around in bed and told me exactly how to pleasure her. As a result, I found myself doing stuff I’d never thought of with a woman and was shocked at how brazen and explicit she was. Are older women as dirty in bed as she was?

Chelsea-target Mueller is ‘irreplacable’ at Bayern

Chelsea are the latest Premier League club reported to be chasing Germany forward Thomas Mueller, but as far as Bayern Munich are concerned their maverick star is ‘irreplacable’. According to UK media reports, Jose Mourinho’s Blues want to sign Mueller to replace Diego Costa, hardly surprising given the German’s current goal-scoring prowess.
Mueller netted Bayern’s opener in Saturday’s 2-0 win at home to Hertha Berlin to claim his 13th league goal, just four months into the season. It means he has scored in each of his last five competitive outings, taking his astonishing personal haul to 20 goals in 21 outings in all competitions in 2015/16.
In a single season, he has never scored more than his current tally of 13 Bundesliga goals — which has come after only 14 matches. Still just 26, Mueller already has a World Cup winners medal in his collection and can play on the wing or as a striker, as he proved by scoring a hat-trick against Portugal at the 2014 World Cup.

Nigeria to assist South Sudan in debt management – Nwankwo

Nigeria will assist South Sudan in managing its huge debt profile and develop its bonds market, Dr Abraham Nwankwo, Director-General, Debt Management Officer (DMO), has said. Nwankwo, speaking on Tuesday when he received a South Sudan delegation on a study tour, stressed the need for cooperation among African countries.
He also assured the delegation that Nigeria would assist South Sudan to set up its own Debt Management Office. “This visit has opened a new door for economic cooperation between Nigeria and Sudan, to share our knowledge, experience and also to learn from each other. “We are happy that rather than going to European or industralised Asian countries, you came to Nigeria. This shows the spirit of African solidarity,’’ he said.

Faleke files suit against INEC, ask that they declared Kogi governor

The deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the November 21st election in Kogi State, James Faleke, today filed a suit at the Federal High Court, Abuja, against INEC over their decision to declare the November 21st election inconclusive. In the suit which was filed by his counsel, Wole Olanikpekun, Faleke asked that they declare him winner of the election.

He frowned at the decision by his party, APC to field Yahaya Bello as Audu Abubakar's substitute for the December 5th supplementary election ..

“In law and logic, no new candidate can inherit or be a beneficiary of the votes already cast, counted and declared by INEC before that candidate was nominated and purportedly sponsored. Assuming without conceding that INEC is even right to order a supplementary election, the votes already cast, counted and declared on Saturday, 21st November 2015, were votes for the joint constitutional ticket of Prince Abubakar Audu and our client. Therefore, no new or ‘supplementary’ candidate can hijack, aggregate, appropriate or inherit the said votes.”Faleke lawyer wrote in the court paper
