Christmas came early for a 53-year-old old Vietnamese man who served 17 years in jail for a murder he didn't commit as the conviction was overturned and official apology made. On Thursday, Dec. 3, authorities in Binh Thuan Province officially apologized to Huynh Van Nen. They admitted that severe mistakes had been made, leading to the wrong sentence. He was only cleared of the crime in October.

Wife of one of the Doctors at First Consultant Hospital in Lagos, Dr Adewale Adejoro, gave birth to an Ebola-free baby girl on Tuesday December 1st, a month after another Ebola survivor, Dr Ada Igonoh gave birth to a baby girl in the US. Dr Adewale was the first doctor to have come in contact with the first case of Ebola in Nigeria, Patrick Sawyerr.

The naira fell against the United States dollar from 243 to 247 at the parallel market on Thursday, a day after the Central Bank of Nigeria banned over 1,600 Bureau De Change operators from participating in its twice-weekly sale of foreign currencies.
The naira had hovered between 241 and 243 before falling to 247 on the streets of Lagos and Abuja.

ASUU to sanction 3 erring LASU members
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Lagos State University (LASU) chapter, says the three erring members of the union who refused to appear before the disciplinary committee will be sanctioned.
Dr Adekunle Idris, ASUU-LASU Chairman, told newsmen on Friday in Lagos that the union was awaiting the report of the disciplinary committee before taking appropriate action.
ASUU-LASU had on Nov. 20, invited Dr Tajudeen Olumoko, a former ASUU-LASU treasurer, Mr A.S.S. Asokere and Mr O. Aiyeniko to appear before the Ethics and Disciplinary committee.
A copy of the public notice obtained by NAN said the invitation was to avail the trio the opportunity to verbally defend themselves in respect of various anti-union activities levied against them.
Court declines moves to stop Kogi supplementary poll

ABUJA—-The Federal High Court in Abuja has declined to stop the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, from conducting supplementary governorship election in Kogi State tomorrow.
The court, in a judgement today, declined jurisdiction to resolve any of the constitutional issues that were raised in five separate suits challenging the legality of the planned run-off poll.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole who gave the verdict, maintained that going by section 285(1) of the 1999 constitution, as amended, and section 87(10) of the Electoral Act, the Federal High Court, lacked the jurisdiction to grant reliefs that were sought before it by all the plaintiffs.

They dismantled the information data base of Igbo land, superintended the destruction or deliberate decay of the roads and infrastructure in Igbo land, dismantled the industries and agricultural development programmes of Igbo land, reduced the financial capabilities of the war survivors, redesigned the states boundaries to ensure that Igbo land became land locked, and sowed terrible seeds of discord between Igbos and their neighbors, now known as the South-South states. Little wonder then that the Second Niger Bridge is a big issue to the victors.
Saraki promotes Special Adviser on Intra-Parliamentary Affairs
Senate President Dr. Bukola Saraki has promoted his Special Adviser on intra-parliamentary affairs, Hon. Moshood Mustapha.
In a letter addressed to the honorable member who represented Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in the House of Reps, in the 7th Assembly, the Senate President added to Mr. Moshood, the position of his Special Adviser on Special Duties.
The letter dated 2nd December 2015, said Hon. Moshood’s new office will cover special assignments as designated by the Senate President, protocol and the general itinerary of the Senate President.
MTN gets Dec 31 deadline to pay N674bn slashed fine

LAGOS— FINALLY, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has reduced the N1.04 trillion fine it imposed on MTN Nigeria to N674 billion.
LAGOS— FINALLY, the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has reduced the N1.04 trillion fine it imposed on MTN Nigeria to N674 billion.
However, the commission has also mandated the telecom operator to pay the fine on or before December 31, 2015.
The fine imposed on the telecom operator was due to what NCC described as MTN’s inability to disconnect about 5.1 million Nigerian subscribers improperly registered on its network, after several warnings in August and September 2015.
In reaction, MTN has said it would carefully study the new development and would mandate its Executive Chairman, Phuthuma Nhleko, to immediately and urgently re-engage with the Nigerian authorities before responding formally.
The reduction, which represents a 25 per cent slash, provides MTN with a reprieve, after series of meetings which have seen several officials from South Africa thronging the country to negotiate the fine.

Governor Ayo Fayose suspends Secretary to the State Government
According to the statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Idowu Adelusi and made available to newsmen in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, November 3, the suspension would last for three months.
The statement also disclosed that Fayose directed Head of Service (HoS), of the State, Dr Gbenga Faseluka, to oversee the office pending her resumption.
Alade retired from the state civil service as a Permanent Secretary. She also worked in ministries of education and local government affairs.
