While wishing residents a Merry Christmas, the LAGBUS management commended them for their unflinching patronage.

Quizzed about the speculation by reporters ahead his weekly press conference ahead of Saturday’s trip to Stoke, van Gaal quickly became irritated and it was less than five minutes before he decided he had had enough

Breaking: Judge exempts self from hearing treason charges against Nnamdi Kanu

Following the fresh six-count charges filled by the Federal Government of Nigeria against the embattled leader of  Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, a  federal High Court judge has exempted himself from hearing the case. Justice Ahmed Mohammed who announced the decision on Wednesday in Abuja after Mr. Kanu objected to the case, said that it was needless, as the federal government had repeatedly disobeyed previous court rulings.
Kanu was charged before the Federal High Court, Abuja alongside two others, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi in a fresh six-count charge of treason and managing the affairs of ‘an unlawful society.’ The government is accusing Mr. Kanu of plotting to split Nigeria, by creating a Biafra Republic with south east, south south states, and parts of Kogi and Benue states, as component units.

Nigerian graduates need 21st Century skills to be employed – Pearson

With approximately 11 million people between the ages of 15 and 34 out of work in Nigeria, it is becoming more important than ever to tackle the country’s youth unemployment challenge with practical and effective solutions.  Without a doubt, higher education plays a key role in reversing unemployment trends in Nigeria, and in helping young people to establish meaningful careers. The Nigerian Government and other education stakeholders across the country have recognised this, opening over 70 new universities since 2005.
However, as the international experience demonstrates, higher education in itself is no panacea to curbing youth unemployment. Whilst creating additional university places is essential, what also needs to be considered is the quality and relevance of the tertiary education students are receiving. Frank Edwards, Education Expert and Workforce Development Director at Pearson, believes that giving students an education that sets them up for success in work and life is what will have the greatest impact on improving Nigeria’s unemployment statistics.

Buhari’s budget a big fraud' - PDP…Says President planning to Mortgage Nigeria’s future

Read the PDP press statement below...
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) describes the N6.8 trillion 2016 federal budget presented by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday as a big fraud and executive conspiracy tailored towards mortgaging the future of the nation. The party queried President Buhari’s decision to borrow N2 trillion, the biggest in the history of the nation as the height of recklessness and deceit from a government that trends on propaganda.
The PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh on Tuesday berated the Federal Government for trying to use their bogus welfare programme and phantom capital projects as cover and conduit to syphon the funds to satisfy partisan interests, particularly to settle huge campaign debts.

“It is obvious that this budget is an extension of the campaign promises of the APC government, presented as a manifesto filled with bogus promises which implementation will be inconclusive, thereby allowing the APC to once again deny their promises.

Budget presentation: Read Full text of Buhari's speech at the NASS

I am honoured and privileged to present the 2016 Budget proposal. This is my first address before this joint session of the National Assembly. I have come here today, not only to address members of the National Assembly, but also to speak directly to the men and women who placed us here.
2. I know the state of our economy is a source of concern for many. This has been further worsened by the unbridled corruption and security challenges we have faced in the last few years. From those who have lost their jobs, to those young people who have never had a job, to the people in the North East whose families and businesses were destroyed by insurgents, this has been a difficult period in our nation’s history, lessons that we must not forget or ignore, as we plan for the future.
3. By June 2014, oil prices averaged $112 per barrel. But as at today, the price is under $39 per barrel. This huge decline is having a painful effect on our economy. Consumption has declined at all levels. In both the private and public sectors, employers have struggled to meet their salary and other employee related obligations. The small business owners and traders have been particularly hard hit by this state of affairs.
4. Fellow Nigerians, the confidence of many might be shaken. However, I stand before you today promising that we will secure our country, rebuild our economy, and make the Federal Republic of Nigeria stronger than it has ever been.

The cars Buhari got from past govt was part of his dues as past Head of State- Femi Adesina

In a recent interview with Radio Continental 102.3 FM, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Buhari, Femi Adesina, gave more insight into the 2 SUVs Buhari received from the past administration after the Boko Haram attack on his convoy last year. According to Adesina, there is no basis for linking Buhari to the Dasuki arms deal scandal
"Maybe there is an attempt to just tar everybody in the country with the brush of corruption, and that is not necessary, because this is our country and it belongs to all of us. We don’t have an alternate country. What happened was that suddenly out of the blues, we began to hear that Gen. Buhari, while not yet elected President, collected five SUVs and the sum of $300,000 from the security funds.
I then checked up and what I was told was that prior to the Boko Haram attack of July last year, President Buhari never got anything from any government though the Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar regime had enacted a decree that spelt out what former heads of state were entitled to, and that decree specifically says they are entitled to three vehicles from the federal government ,which should be replaced every four years. He never got any. And then came the Boko Haram attack of July 2014, which by the grace of God, he survived. One day, two vehicles were just driven to his office in Kaduna, Land Cruiser SUVs, one armoured and the other not armoured, and they said it was from the Federal Government. Of course, It was part of his dues as a former Head of state, and he collected. No cash component, nothing else"he said

Photo: Zimbabwe to make Chinese yuan legal currency after Beijing cancels $40m debts

Zimbabwe has announced that it will make the Chinese yuan legal tender after Beijing confirmed it would cancel $40m in debts, AFP reports.
"They [China] said they are cancelling our debts that are maturing this year and we are in the process of finalising the debt instruments and calculating the debts," minister Patrick Chinamasa said in a statement.

Chinamasa also announced that Zimbabwe will officially make the Chinese yuan legal tender as it seeks to increase trade with Beijing. Zimbabwe abandoned its own dollar in 2009 after hyperinflation, which had peaked at around 500bn%, rendered it unusable.

It then started using a slew of foreign currencies, including the US dollar and the South African rand. The yuan was later added to the basket of the foreign currencies, but its use had not been approved yet for public transactions in the market dominated by the greenback.

Use of the yuan "will be a function of trade between China and Zimbabwe and acceptability with customers in Zimbabwe," the minister added.

Dear Minister: Jonathan is not to Blame! By Reno Omokri

Former presidential aide Reno Omokri writes open letter to the minister of Information. Read below
Dear Honourable Minister Lai Mohammed, Greetings and congratulations on your recent and well deserved appointment as Nigeria's Minister of Information. You may recall that we met on the set of 'Politics Today' in May of 2011 soon after I was interviewed by Deji Bademosi and just before you were interviewed.
The purpose of my letter to you today is in response to your statement made on Monday the 21st of December, 2015 in which you accused former President Goodluck Jonathan, whom I served as one of three spokesmen, of being responsible for the current excruciating fuel scarcity now subsisting in Nigeria.

Your exact words were "What I will be telling Nigerians is that what we met on ground is such that we are paying for the sins of the last administration.....One of the reasons for the fuel scarcity was the inability of the last government to make adequate provision for fuel subsidy". My candid take on your message to Nigerians is that it is an abdication of responsibility on your part and does not project you and the government you represent as being responsible. Government, as you very well know, is a continuum. One government takes over from where the other stopped and to say that an action in December of 2015 (six months after ex President Jonathan handed over to the incumbent on May 29th, 2015, ) is the fault of the last President, is to confer super human powers on Jonathan.

The President of ATN, Com. Hassan Olanrewaju who noted that unsuspecting Nigerians have continued to fall victims to their activities, described the situation as worrisome.
According to him, these quacks have continued to carry out shoddy jobs to denigrate real professionals in the building industry, a scenario he said portrays genuine stakeholders in bad light.
“The Association of Tilers, Nigeria is a noble professional organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, under the Company and Allied Matters Act 1990.
