Recovering From Hitting Rock Bottom: How to Start Your Life Over From Scratch

Realize You're Worth It!
You are valuable and you deserve to enjoy life. If you are in a job that you don't necessarily like, remember that the job is what you do and it is not everything that you are. It can be a means to something better. If you want to go out and have fun, go ahead! Explore the different opportunities that are available to you.
Understand the Changes You Need to Make
Have you heard the phrase, "You never know where you are going until your know where you've been"? It is true. Unless you know what caused your troubles and distress, you could end up repeating the same mistakes or following the same pattern that led you down the same road. Evaluate the behaviors that are not benefiting you or bringing you solitude, and change those behaviors. Are you wasting your money? Are you constantly angry? Are you disorganized? Seek ways to improve these behaviors.
Become Your Own Student
Becoming your own student is the perfect to learn what you can do with your talents and attributes. What do you love to do? Everybody is good at something and it is up to you to find out what you are good at. Whether you are good with your hands, love being visually creative or enjoy solving problems, opt for gaining more experience in the areas where you are the most talented or would like to learn more about. If you had/have a career or job that you love, work on fine-tuning the skills that helped you gain the position in the first place. Think of the skills that will help you take your career venture to the next level. Take some courses, network, and envision yourself in the desired position that you want to achieve within the next few years. But, remember to be realistic.

Ignore Negative Energy and Embrace Positive Energy
If you want to stop harming your body and mind, but you are surrounding yourself with people who do not care about even their health and well-being, healing can prove to be difficult. Your circle may not understand the positive changes that you are trying to make. They may even feel as though you are becoming arrogant or distinguishing yourself from them. You have a right to separate yourself from any of the sources that you feel are counter-active to your healing and success. You have a right to embrace the positive things that inspire and motivate you.
Seek Out Your Destination
Map out your short-term and long-term goals. If you want to take a course or just want to simply improve how you perform your job functions, remember to list this as a short-term goal. Anything that can be done within weeks to months is considered a short-term goal despite having the ability to garner long-term benefits. Long-term goals are things that you want to have accomplished as an end result that has benefits that will last for years to come.
Make Good Use of Your Resources
Save your money and invest it wisely. This can be very difficult if you are part of a circle that loves to spend money and encourages you to spend your money on things that are not necessities. Surround yourself with people who understand your situation and are willing to allow you to grow your money, but most of all, grow as an individual.
It's never too late to start over and improve your life. Make sure that you are taking advantage of the resources that can lead to long-term success. Remember to love yourself and cultivate your daily behaviors to reflect the person who you want to become. There is no need to dread the past, just look forward to the future.
