Nollywood actor, Dave Ogbeni recounts how his car was snatched at gun point

Fast rising Nollywood actor, Dave Ogbeni, who was recently on the set of Marrying a Campbell, alongside Hollywood actor Hakeem Kae Kazim of Hotel Rwanda fame and Nollywood actress Yvonne Jegede has had his car snatched at gun point for more than two weeks now with the police clueless on how to recover it.
The incident occurred in Asaba on Thursday, November 13, 2015 at about 9.30pm at a barber’s shop opposite the Presidential Lodge. The actor narrated to Potpourri how the daredevils carried out the operation.

APC chieftains laud Ambode over security equipment

The immediate past Chairman of Amuwo-Odofin Local Government in Lagos, Comrade Ayodele Adewale has described the donation of security equipment worth about N4.8bn to the Nigerian Police by the Lagos State Government as worthwhile, considering the several gadgets procured with the sum.
Adewale, in an interview with journalists said it was highly commendable that the State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode brought his accounting acumen to bear in acquiring several gadgets with such amount, adding that the development had truly announced the Governor as a good manager of resources.
He also expressed optimism that the equipment and materials procured by the government would be adequate to curb crime in Lagos.

Digitization: EMCOAN seeks partnership with govt

As part of efforts towards achieving digitization in Nigeria, Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) seeks collaboration with government to actualize timely process.
Speaking to journalists in Lagos to announce the upcoming annual dinner of EMCOAN holding on Saturday December 12, at the R &A City Hotel, Ikeja, the President, Debby Odutayo, said: “We are hosting Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State, at the EMCOAN’s annual dinner this year, aimed at strengthening better relationship and forging stronger ties with government.
“As media content providers with virtually 80 percent of media contents in the electronic sector, we have a strong role to play towards actualizing digital process in Nigeria. We urge the government to recognize and partner with the association, having contributed immensely to the development of the entertainment industry in the Nigeria.”

Fayose to Governors: Cut your travels, tours not minimum wages

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, has dissociated himself from calls by some state governors that the salaries of public servants be reduced or that there should be massive retrenchment in the publicInstead of reducing salaries and sacking workers, Fayose admonished the state governors to reduce the affluence they enjoy in office and put an end to wastages.
According to a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Friday by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, the governor said this during the Agenda for the Treasury Board meeting held as part of preparation of the state’s 2016 budget.

IPOB PROTEST: Catholic Knights appeal for calm in S-East

PORT HARCOURT: Following the persistent protests by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) over the continuous incarceration of its leader and Radio Biafra Director, Nnamdi Kanu by the Department for Security Service, DSS, the Knights of Saint Mulumba, Nigeria has appealed to the protesting youths to sheath their swords.
The order made this appeal on Friday, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, while fielding questions after briefing newsmen to mark the opening of its 36th Annual Convention, on the theme, The Church in Nigerian and its role in Democracy Governance.
The Supreme Knight, Bro. Anthony Onuh expressed worries over the continuous protest by IPOB in the area.

FIFA officials stole $750,000 meant for Haiti earthquake victims- U.S attorney general

The United States department of Justice in conjunction with Swiss police have released new indictments following the 6.a.m arrests of two FIFA Vice-presidents, Alfredo Hawit of Honduras and Juan Angel Napout of Paraguay, in Zurich yesterday. A total of 16 officials have been laced with fresh corruption charges for sums totalling $200million dollars mostly relating to TV and marketing deals in north, south and central America and the Caribbean.

The most shocking detail in the new indictment is the new revelation involving officials who were indicted following arrests last May namely Jack Warner and Jeffrey Webb who has already pleaded guilty to seven charges, but this men in the most inhumane of professional characters embezzled money meant for Haiti Relief victims..

Say what? Nicki Minaj's brother charged with raping a 12yr old girl

According to a breaking news report, Nicki Minaj's older brother, Jelani Maraj, has been charged with first degree rape of a girl that is just 12 years old. According to Newsday who broke the story, Jelani, who got married in August allegedly raped the girl in Long Island but didn't say when.

The 37 year old was arrested and later released on $100,000 bail after being arraigned yesterday Dec. 3rd on first-degree rape and first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child.


The Nassau district attorney’s office, have so far declined to comment on the case, and how the matter came to authorities’ attention.
