Federal Government College Ogbomosho Old School Association (FEGOCOOSA) has urged schools alumni to work together to revamp the ailing education system in Nigeria.
Speaking during a press briefing in Lagos, FEGOCOOSA President, Mr. Francis Orbih said: “If only alumni of various schools can pull resources together, the education system will not be where it is today.”
According to him, in its quest to maintain standard in the school, 1995 set of Federal Government College Ogbomosho had donated desks and lockers for 150 students. Just as 85 set donated the industrial kitchen, while a set sunk boreholes.
Orbih who urged the physical presence of FEGOCOOSA on December 5 at the Red Carpet Event Centre, Victoria Island said, it is not enough for alumni to connect through social media, adding that old friends need to physically renew connections .
He said this year, FEGOCOOSA will use the medium to recognise and award distinguished individuals and groups that have done well in supporting the Association to develop the school.
His words: “During our meeting, we. Will give awards to academic and non academic staff of the school who have served in one capacity or the other to bring progress to the school.
“We will use the opportunity to identify with our Amar mater to give awards to the best students of the school. We will also recognise the department with outstanding subject results and reward them accordingly.
“We will recognise the old students who have done services to the Association and the school. On that day, We will unveil and recognise the most distinguished Alumni, best set and reward them accordingly.”
